Internationalization

Intern

The PhD program in Landscape Studies for Global and Local Challenges is multilingual; therefore, the training includes the acquisition of skills in one or more foreign languages, which are consolidated through:

  • transdisciplinary thematic study paths (Summer/Spring/Winter schools) in partnership with other higher education institutions and doctoral networks within the “New European Bauhaus” , the “Centre de recherche sur le futur des villes” of the University of Ottawa (together with the Ecole Normale Supérieure de Lyon), or other networks
  • a stay abroad of (at least) six months
  • PhD thesis project co-supervision
  • participation of PhD students in international conferences/doctoral colloquia/international workshops in which to discuss the intermediate and final results of their research.

In addition, the internationalization of doctoral activities is supported by an International Academic Steering Committee composed of scholars from international universities interested in welcoming PhD students, co-supervising research projects or activating co-supervision paths.

Thanks to the knowledge and research methodologies acquired in Italy and abroad, and under the guidance of a supervisor and a co-supervisor assigned at the beginning of the course, each PhD student is able – already as of the second and especially during the third year – to conduct research in national and international contexts, completing her/his thesis project in the wake of a wide-ranging transcultural and transdisciplinary dialogue.
